We were advised, by the Department of Forest Darjeeling, to collect 500 saplings from the nursery in Takdah. The saplings were collected and distributed as follows:
Kalimpong Town Committee were given 50 saplings. These were planted in the Baghdhara area, in order to preserve the water source in the area.
Block I were given 100 saplings. These were planted in the areas prone to landslides in 14th Mile, 3 mile and 4 mile.
Block II were given 250 saplings. 100 saplings were planted around the Sangay Choling Tamang Boudha Gompa as it is a cremation area and there is severe deforestation. 150 saplings were planted in the Kashim Forest area as there is a problem there with woodcutters stealing wood and causing deforestation.
Block III were given 100 saplings. The saplings were planted around the monastery and temple areas as there were no plantations there.
